Velo Europe and cycling in Klagenfurt and Carinthia
For most routes from and to Klagenfurt we use the Drau cycle path upstream to South Tyrol, Italy and downstream to Slovenia and Croatia, but also to the other VEP's in Austria.
In day or 2 day stages we can cycle both Italy, from Villach through the Gailtal, but also Slovenia over the Wurzenpass to Kransja Gora.
From Kransja Gora there is the option to cycle over the Vrsic Pass into the Triglav National Park and along the Soca through this beautiful nature park (Phase 2).
Also for the routes to the north we have to reckon with many meters of altitude, because here some passes have to be crossed on the way to Salzburg.
If you like it more comfortable you can either cycle along the Wörther lake or to the next lakes like the Ossiacher or Millstädter lake.
Arrival
We take the bus directly from the arrivals hall to the city of Klagenfurt. If you travel by train to the airport station Klagenfurt-Annabichl (1 x per hour), it takes about 10 minutes on foot to the departure hall. Alternatively, you can also take the S-Bahn.
