Stage
Can be treated as a section of a trip (“Route”). Stage simply connects two destinations in a reasonable short distance, that one can cycle within a day.
This is a “core” element for our VELO system as it is used for building “Routes” (see below), and allows you to create your own custom journey based on our proven bike paths.
If you wonder how to craft your own journey jump to the section: “Creating your own route”.

Route
Is a trip that you can find in our system. It very often goes from one city to another or along a river. It usually consists of several stages and each of them should be briefly described, to help you get a feeling of what you can expect. It’s like a journey that you want to cycle within several days.
If you wonder how to look for your route jump to the next section of the FAQ: “Using Predefined Routes”

In order to make your route more attractive, safe and cycling-friendly we’ve decided to add special points that we call “Point of Interest” and “Partners”.
Those points should help to:

  • - spot beautiful places on your route
  • - get help in case of any accident,
  •
- find hotel or restaurant,

  • - reach out service in case of having a flat tyre.
Each route that we created, or that you will create already has a built-in set of “POI” and Partners, but that’s not all. During your route planning, you can decide if some of them should be marked as “mine” - to filter out everything that is not needed.

Check out two related subjects:

  • - Customising your predefined Routes

We've described this subject in our overview footage under the chapter "Predefined routes"

Velo ships with a really big amount of routes that are ready to use.
You can browse routes in several ways:

  • - using top search - simply enter your desired city name and select the one that you want from the dropdown menu
  • - using Europe Tours landingpage - simply enter the page https://velo-europe.de/en/routes, and select your desired scope of the trip.
Once you select your route, you can customize it and save it under your account.
If you wonder how to customize your route, jump to the section: “Customising your predefined Routes”.
INFO: Mind that you have to be logged in, in order to save a route on your account.

Every Route in our system can be customized. To do that, you need to enter a route like for example: https://velo-europe.de/en/route/dresden-prag
and, save it (by clicking “Route planning” button), and then you are able to adjust it to your needs.

Reorganize stages:

You can customize the number of stages so that it matches your criteria:

  • - to remove a stage simply click the blue circle button with a white arrow that is next to the stage name
  • - To add a stage click the white circle button that is next to the route point

Organising POIS/Partners

We've described this subject in our overview footage under the chapter "Organising POIS & Partners"
VIDEO: Velo - Organising POIS & Partners
but there is also a text version below if you find it more suitable

We give you the ability to adjust POI/Partner that we have in our database for your predefined route.
That way you are able to select POI/Partner for each stage separately and filter out unwanted points in VELO App during your journey ( jump to An app: Journey: Filtering point of interest and partners).

In order to select preferred POIS/Parnters simply:
  • - Click the blue button (with the marker and arrow icon) that is next to route point name
  • - Select preferred POIS/Partners from the list
  • - Save it

We've described this subject in our overview footage under the chapter “Create your own route"

Brief introduction to routes

We have grouped all your routes into 3 categories:

  • planned - those are the ones that you added to your account but haven't started cycling yet.
  • pending - those are the ones that you've already started but haven't finished yet.
  • finished - those are the ones that you cycled and you marked them as finished.

  • 6. If you want to start a route from the point where you are, simply click "Start Route" button, otherwise select one of the following navigation options:
"Go to nearest point" - if you want to be guided to the nearest point of the stage.

  • 7. Congratulations !!!. You've just started your first route. Have a safe and beautiful journey

Brief introduction to finishing stage and route

If you need more explanation about "stage" and "route" - follow to section "Route vs Stage".
We give you the following options to finish a navigation:

  • stop navigation - it simply stops navigation. It means that for example you want to have a break during your tour, and continue the next day.
  • stop and marked as finished - this option stops navigation and marks the current stage as finished. It means that you will not be able to contiune this stage later on. This option should be selected by you when you reach the finish line of the stage
  • mark whole route as finished. It means that you want to finish the route, even though some of the stages are might not be done yet, but you don't want to cycle this route anymore.

We've described this subject in our overview footage under the chapter “Finish your route"
