The Leine is a German river which rises at the Zehnsberg near Leinefelde in Thuringia and flows after 278 km into the Aller near Schwarmstedt.
Near the source there are more rivers, some of which drain over the Elbe or Weser, i.e. the watershed lies in the source area.
In the upper reaches, the Leine flows from east to west, before it changes direction from south to north when entering the Leinegraben.
Approximately from Nordstemmen the line enters the North German Plain.

Since 1592 the wood fencing on the Leine has been documented.

The big cities on the Aller are Göttingen and Hannover, other destinations are Leinefelde Worbis, Gronau and Neustadt am Rübenberge.

Cycling on the Leine

From the source to the mouth of the river there is a signposted cycle path of the Leine-Hei
