Cycling in Switzerland

Natural beauty in the Alps - 3 big rivers have their origin in Switzerland, more concretely in the St.Gotthard area and flow into North Sea - Mediterranean Sea - Black Sea

Rhine - North Sea
Rhone - Mediterranean Sea
Inn - via the Danube into the Black Sea
These rivers, but also others, form a large part for the orientation of our cycling routes in Switzerland.

There are about 1500 lakes in Switzerland, which account for about 4% of the total area, the largest are:

Lake Geneva
Lake Constance
Lake Neuchâtel
Lake Lucerne
Lake Maggiore

Along these beautiful lakes there are other routes used in the Velo Europe concept.
The routes in Switzerland are mostly hilly, as more than 50% of the total area is or belongs to the Alps.
Switzerland is bicycle friendly, the routes are perfectly signposted and some stages can be found on the national bicycle website of Switzerland: www.veloland.ch.

The tight and very well functioning railroad system also supports any bike cycling tour through Switzerland.
