Spain is a European country located on the Iberian Peninsula and includes 17 autonomous regions of great geographical and cultural diversity.

The capital, Madrid, is home to the Royal Palace and the Prado, with works by European masters. Segovia has a medieval castle (Alcázar) and an intact Roman aqueduct.
Landmarks of the Catalan capital Barcelona are Antoni Gaudí's whimsical buildings such as the Sagrada Familia.

Spain is a country with a long history and a huge treasure of history and cultural heritage (Dali, Picasso, Gaudi and many others).
Spanish is one of the major world languages with about 570 million speakers in the world.
In Spain there are many customs and traditions, but today some of them are just clichés.
No, not all Spaniards take a siesta at noon, always drink sangria, eat paella and dance flamenco.
About the cuisine - really typical are tapas, which you can really find in every bar, or a tortilla espagnol.
And sangria is mostly drunk only by tourists when they move to the beaches of the Iberian peninsula in summer.

Cycling in Spain

Cycling is very popular in Spain and every November the annual Tour of Spain takes place.

Basically, as in most European countries, cyclists are not allowed to ride on the highways and expressways.
Bie darkness, as in all other countries, reflective clothing should be worn.
The pleasant climate in Spain makes cycling possible all year round.
In Spain we can find routes through natural areas for all levels with all impressive landscapes and many places of cultural and culinary interest.
Spain is the country of the most biosphere reserves (52) and has 15 national parks.

The Velo Europe stages across the Iberian Peninsula accompany the two largest rivers in the country, the Ebro and the Tagus.

With other tributaries, we thus cycle from east to west, from Barcelona via Zaragoza to Madrid or Bilbao.

South of Madrid we meet the Tagus again, which takes us to the Atlantic coast to Lisbon.
In the north, from Bilbao, Saragossa or Barcelona, we can choose various routes across the Pyrenees towards the big cities of Bordeaux and Toulouse or the coastal cities of Perpignan or Narbonne.

We are currently working on other routes in the south of Spain.
