Krakow is the 2nd largest city in Poland and lies in the south, about 350 km southeast of Warsaw. Both Krakow and Warsaw lie on the Vistula and are therefore closely connected. The city lies in the Krakow Gate, a valley of the Vistula, between the Carpathians and the Polish Jura.

Krakow has one of the oldest universities in Europe. Krakow has always been a centre of industry, culture and science. The secret capital of Poland was Krakow, where many kings lived, which is documented by numerous buildings in the city.

Krakow was little destroyed during the war and there are countless architectural monuments from the Gothic period, Renaissance in the old town of Krakow, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
